Opportunities for a thesis are provided in the field of solid supprted membranes (SSM). These lipid membranes on a solid support are well suited for the imobilization of membrane proteins. Membrane proteins reconstituted into liposomes can be adsorbed to the SSM. SSMs are interesting for basic research on membrane transport as well as in view of an application for the biosensor and drug-screening technology.
Projects with a biological focus for the investigation of the mechanism of bacterial and eukaryotic transporters as well as projects with a technical focus for the development of the method are possible.
Candidates must have a good education in Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology.
