A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Structural Biology at the MPI of Biophysics to investigate the molecular basis of ageing in yeast. Candidates should have a strong background in yeast genetics or molecular biology. Research experience in membrane biochemistry or membrane protein structure and function would be an asset. Applications including a CV and pdf files of key publications should be sent by e-mail to:
Department of Structural Biology - Group, Prof. Dr. Werner Kühlbrandt
The department has openings for highly motivated diploma, masters or bachelor students with a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, biophysics or physics. Projects include the structure and function of membrane proteins, especially secondary-active transporters, and structure determination of large macromolecular complexes by electron cryo-microscopy or cryo-tomography. Applications should be sent by email to:
Department of Structural Biology - Group, Dr. Thomas Meier
Projects for a Master degree or Diploma thesis in Biochemistry/Structural Biology (or Bachelor degree or practical training) in the field of cellular energy conversion and/or antibiotic resistance. The work to be done is very broad (from cloning to structure). Highly motivated candidates should have background and high interest in biology, biochemistry and the structure/function of membrane proteins.
Applications including a CV should be sent by email, to:
Department of Structural Biology - Group, Dr. Özkan Yildiz
Project for a master or diploma thesis on expression, purification and structural characterization of membrane proteins.
