Work & Life in Frankfurt

Welcome to Frankfurt!

If you are moving to Frankfurt to work at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics and you are not a German citizen, you will need to arrange a few things prior to your arrival and/or shortly thereafter.

First and foremost, you should discuss with the HR department and your supervisor what arrangements need to be made, and take a look at administrative matters, such as insurance, visa and any questions you may have.

The information you find here will give you an idea of what to do in preparation for your departure for Germany and what formalities have to be dealt with shortly after your arrival.

There may be more rules and regulations in Germany than you are used to – not without reason do the Germans have the reputation of being bureaucratic. Do not be disheartened; you will soon negotiate the initial hurdles and we will be happy to help you throughout your residence and in finding your way around Frankfurt.
