PhD Student
Research group “Bonnie Murphy: Redox and Metalloproteins”

I started my bachelor in molecular biology in 2015 at the University of Groningen. Here I came into contact with a large variety of experimental methods and ended up doing my thesis in the group of Prof. Dr. Marco Fraaije where I characterized peroxidases. I stayed in Groningen for my masters in molecular biology. During my masters I did a project in the group of Prof. Dr. Matthias Heinemann on molecular systems biology and a project in the group of Dr. Cristina Paulino working with cryo-EM to study potassium transporters. During this project I fell in love with cryo-EM and wanted to continue using it in my PhD. In 2021 I applied to the IMRPS on Cellular Biophysics and I joined the Murphy group in January 2022 to study ROS production by cryo-EM and biochemical methods.
