I did my apprenticeship to become a biolab technician at the Paul-Ehrlich Institut in Langen. Already back then I decided that I wanted to work in research after finishing. So to better understand what I was doing in the lab I did my bachelors in molecular biology via distance learning. By doing so I could continue working full time in the lab and learn a lot of different techniques. For the last seven years I was working at the Universtity Hospital in Frankfurt in Thomas Oellerich's group mainly focusing on signaling pathway research in the lymphoma field. Already in my apprenticeship and later also in my studies I came in contact with electron microscopy and have always been fascinated by what you can learn about biology with those instruments. In July 2023 I got the opportunity to join Bonnie Murphy's group as a technician and am really excited to learn the unique techniques in cryo EM that the group has established.
