Curriculum Vitae

Maarten works in the electron microscopy (EM) facility of the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics since July 2021. His background is in physics and he became interested in biophysics and microscopy during his studies. During his PhD in the Netherlands, he developed novel methods for cryo-correlative light- and electron microscopy, specifically super-resolution fluorescence microscopy on cryo-samples. Maarten then managed the cryo-EM facility at University of Edinburgh, thereby broadening his experience in cryo-EM, specifically in single-particle analysis. He has experience in facility-management, user training and scientific collaborations with researchers in various scientific projects.
