Bank Account
A German bank account is essential for several reasons, such as depositing wages or renting an apartment.
To open a bank account, you usually need to provide your national identification document, your German registration certificate, and typically a pay statement or your employment contract.
With these documents, you can apply for a current account and an EC card at the bank of your choice.
In rare cases, some individuals have faced difficulties opening a bank account before receiving their tax identification number. If this happens, please contact the international office for assistance in finding a suitable bank.
Please always check if the bank is legally registered and located in Germany, otherwise the Deposit Guarantee Act might not be applicable.
